There are a few ingredients to avoid in cosmetics (at the very least) that are fairly easy to recognize. Titanium dioxide is one of them
This ingredient is used for its white coloring, opacifying, and UV filtering properties. It's found in cosmetics, sunscreens, medications, toothpaste, makeup, but also in food packaging, paints, paper, and more
It's hidden in the list of ingredients under different names: titanium dioxide, E171, or CI77891. It's found in both organic and conventional products
Suspected of being carcinogenic, France banned its use as a food additive (i.e. E171) in 2019. The European Union followed in 2022
In nano-form, titanium dioxide is even more dangerous to our health. Its particles can cross biological barriers, such as the intestine or the placenta. French researchers have studied the contamination of breast milk and animal milk by this ingredient. Their results reveal widespread contamination
Besides being carcinogenic, titanium dioxide nanoparticles have numerous other adverse health effects: inflammation and impairment of immunity, reproduction, and neurodevelopment, as well as DNA damage. You can find more information about these studies | here |
Therefore I recommend you to reduce your exposure to this ingredient as soon as possible. We do not and will not use it in our formulas
