Since 2022, I have been warning you about | forever chemicals, PFAS |. They constitute one of the most serious contaminations the world is facing

These very stable chemical substances are mainly used for their water-repellent, waterproof, non-stick and flame-retardant properties. You find them directly in cardboard food packaging, waterproof clothing, non-stick pans, sunscreens and waterproof makeup...

Persistent, toxic and bioaccumulative, these millions of substances are now found in the soil, water, animals, chickens... Since April 2023, | ARS the French Health Agency) | recommends not to eat eggs from domestic henhouses in Ile de France and the Lyon region because of « high levels of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and per- and polyfluoroalkynate substances (PFAS) »

The Hollywood movie Dark Waters (2019) tells the historic legal case against the chemical company DuPont after they contaminated a town with PFAS. DuPont settled the 3,500 disease cases for $671 million

In February 2023, Le Monde and other international papers including the Guardian teamed up to review the scale of the forever chemicals pollution in Europe. You can find their map | here |

Their impact on our health is very negative with an increased risk of cancer. These substances impact our entire body system. You will find | here | an article from the Guardian which summarizes the different risks

To limit our exposition to these chemicals, there are simple ways:
- filter water with activated carbon or by osmosis
- cook with stainless steel, glass or ceramic pans and saucepans
- avoid food packaging made from waterproof paper and cardboard
- avoid waterproof cosmetics and clothing

Spoiler you don't need waterproof sunscreen :)

Take care
