There are two types of sun filters: chemical filters and mineral filters
Mineral filters act on the skin's surface by reflecting UV rays. They act like a mirror. Chemical (or organic) filters absorb UV rays within your skin
European regulations authorize 34 filters, including two mineral filters: zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. In the US, the FDA regulates the sunscreens and is out of date. If you want to learn more about, please find | here | an article by EWG
Zinc oxide is the filter that presents the minimum of health risks. You can find more information | here |. Conversely, chemical filters and titanium dioxide are suspected of being hormone disruptors, carcinogens, and/or mutagens (cell modification)
The best sun protection is to avoid peak sunlight, wear protective clothing, and seek shade
